Compatibility
🧑🔬 Compatibility Testing
RacelabVR v3 has been tested across multiple games and VR runtimes.
Important Notes:
- The legacy Oculus API is not supported in any game.
- While OpenComposite is not officially supported, it mostly works, with known issues in AMS2.
- If using OpenComposite, the most reliable installation method is to replace the game's
openvr_api.dll
with OpenComposite's version instead of using the installer.

⚠️ AMS2 (Automobilista 2)
🚨 Oculus (Rift/Quest) Users
AMS2 forces the use of the legacy Oculus API if an Oculus headset is detected, even if SteamVR is explicitly selected.
Workaround:
- Quest headset users: Use the free Steam Link app on Quest instead of Meta Link/AirLink to bypass this behavior.
✅ Other Headsets
For non-Oculus headsets, SteamVR is strongly recommended due to known OpenComposite issues.
⚠️ OpenComposite Issues
- AMS2 does not work correctly with OpenComposite.
- Issue: Overlays disappear when removed and re-added (e.g., after restarting
racelab_vr.exe
).
📝 F1 2024
- OpenComposite is not compatible → The game crashes on startup, even without overlays.
- Use OpenVR instead.
📝 iRacing
- Works fine with OpenVR or OpenXR (OpenXR recommended).
- Untested with OpenComposite → Native OpenXR support is preferred.
📝 Le Mans Ultimate
- This game always uses OpenComposite, as it is built-in.
- OpenComposite works fine in this game.
